I am a freelance community dance artist. I specilise in working with mature dancers and people living with dementia. I trained at Dartington College of Arts Theatre BA Hons (81-85) and Hertfordshire College of Art and Design Post Grad Dip. Dance Movement Therapy (89-91).
My practice is shaped by the thinking embedded at Dartington; that creative participation should be open to everyone regardless of age, experience or ability.
My training as a dance movement therapist underpins my approach to movement and dance as activities that support our health and wellbeing.
I enjoy collaborating with other artists and blurring the boundaries between art forms, mixing movement with visual art or creative writing.
On this page you will find links to the projects that make up the core of my current practice. My work takes me in different directions, into care homes, village halls, museums and site specific locations.
The pulse that connects all my work is a deep curiosity about people in movement and how we engage with the impulse to move. This might be a toddler taking their first steps or a grandparent remembering the Saturday night dance through the prism of dementia.
